Global Missions
With over fifty years of steady mission giving and prayer support, Eastwood
affirms global servants selected by International Ministries of the American
Baptist Churches USA. Twenty percent of Eastwood’s giving support men
and women who are “God’s hands and feet in the world.” You can read
their stories at internationalministries.org or
contact our church office to speak to the Missions Chairperson.
In June, 2008 Eastwood, in partnership with International Ministries, hosted a World Mission Conference featuring fifteen missionaries who shared stories of faith that revitalized the hope that “God is at work transforming the world!”
Throughout the year Eastwood hosts Mission Dinners for individuals to learn firsthand how Jesus is changing the lives of people in places such as Thailand, Costa Rica, South Africa. The bi-weekly BEACON newsletter features letters from our missionaries.
Eastwood
currently actively supports the following individuals:
Dan and Sarah Chetti — Beirut, Lebanon
Ed and Miriam Noyes -- Democratic Republic of Congo
Glen and Rita Chapman -- Democratic Republic of Congo
Kim Kushner -- El Salvador, Nicaragua
Local Missions in the Rogue Valley
Recognizing immediate needs right within the Rogue Valley Eastwood members are involved in loving their neighbors through friendship-making, acts of care and compassion for those in need and hospitality in and out of the church setting. Jesus Christ, in humility, exemplifies a lifestyle of compassion for those less able regardless of ethnicity or social status. Many Eastwood members live this calling of service through participation in civic organizations/local agencies such as CASA or SMART or volunteering in places such as hospitals, schools or library.
Others participate as a collective
in organized ways:
Layette Ministry
Baby starter kits are made and given to high school teen parents on an ongoing
basis.
Teddy Bear Ministry
Boxes of bears are collected and distributed to hospitals and police stations.
The Office
This is an outreach to women who work at a local gentleman’s club.
Thanksgiving Baskets
These are distributed to needy families during the holiday.
Maslow Project
Volunteers offer services to this resource center and outreach program for teens.
School Supplies
These are collected and donated to local schools.
Medford Gospel Mission
Volunteers lead worship services for the homeless individuals.
Rogue Valley Teen Pregnancy Center
Eastwood is involved in fund-raising for this center.
College and Military Packages
Care packages are sent to college students and to our military.
If you are interested in giving your time, contact our church office for “missional opportunities.” We also welcome your ideas in living out Christ’s second commandment to “love thy neighbor.”
